SALT - A Geneva Serveathon

MAKE A GIFT

On September 30, 2016, The Geneva School community will participate in our fifth annual SALT Serveathon—a fun, educational, and heart-changing day of community service. SALT is also an important philanthropic effort that benefits the school by providing funds for critical programs such as tuition assistance, facility improvements, technology advancements, as well as enhanced arts, academics, and athletic programming.

Instead of selling wrapping paper or walking a 5K to raise money, we ask students to seek sponsorships for a day of service. Leading up to SALT day, students will reach out to family, friends, neighbors, and other local contacts to ask for pledges for their day of work in the local community. We are called to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world; SALT allows students to do just that.

SALT helps the community. On SALT day about 700 students, parents, faculty, and staff will donate over 3,500 hours to the community by volunteering with 13 Central Florida non-profit organizations. The day will be spent stocking food banks, making seniors smile at a retirement home, greening up local parks, packing meals for the hungry, and more.

SALT helps the school. The program raises necessary funds for The Geneva School to continue providing reasonable tuition and scholarship assistance to Central Florida families. It also develops a culture of giving within our community.

SALT helps our students. SALT educates our students about areas of need in the local community.  It also shows them why serving others is important and how they can make a tangible difference in the world.
